Mechanical Inspector – Aerospace Engineering
Poole, Dorset
£15.50 – £17.50 per hour
An established aerospace engineering manufacturer in Poole is seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join its growing quality team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong inspection and quality background gained within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
Join Our Team as a Mechanical Inspector
As a Mechanical Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring all products meet strict aerospace quality and compliance standards throughout the manufacturing process. You will be responsible for inspecting components at various stages to prevent non-conforming product and maintain exceptional quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out inspections at planned stages including first-off, FAIR, final inspection, pre-treatment, and goods in/out
* Perform detailed dimensional and visual inspections throughout production
* Raise Purchase Orders for subcontract suppliers where required
* Identify non-conforming product, raise NCRs, and ensure correct containment and labelling
* Communicate quality concerns promptly to Quality Engineers and production teams
* Complete FAIR documentation in line with company procedures
* Use customer quality systems and software such as Net-Inspect
* Work to customer-specific quality requirements including DSQR
* Compile and approve Certificates of Conformity
* Support RCCA and 8D investigations when required
Skills & Experience
To be considered for this role, you should have:
* Previous experience in a Mechanical Inspector or Quality Inspection role within engineering or manufacturing
* A strong understanding of inspection processes and quality standards
* Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
* The ability to maintain high standards of process control across all quality activities
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with production and quality teams
Desirable:
* Aerospace industry experience
* Experience using customer quality systems such as Net-Inspect
* Knowledge of FAIR documentation and DSQR requirements
