About the role
Our client is seeking a warm, experienced SEND teacher to deliver bespoke 1:1 education to a 19-year-old young woman with Down Syndrome, as part of an EOTAS package. The successful candidate will design and deliver a personalised curriculum focused on functional literacy and numeracy, communication, independence and life skills, working alongside a wider therapy team.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver 1:1 teaching in functional English and Maths (Entry Level), French and/or Hebrew
* Embed life-skills learning: money, food preparation, travel training, community access
* Use visual, concrete teaching methods (e.g. Numicon) tailored to individual learning style
* Work with SLT strategies to support communication, self-advocacy and social skills
* Support emotional regulation using visual aids and consistent routines
* Liaise with therapists (OT, SLT, Physiotherapy) and family as part of a joined-up plan
Requirements
* QTS preferred; substantial SEND teaching experience considered
* Experience with Down Syndrome, learning disabilities or complex communication needs
* Enhanced DBS (or willing to obtain); full UK driving licence preferred
