HSEQ Manager Civil Engineering / Water Sector ?? Sussex| Permanent | Competitive Salary Package A leading specialist civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced HSEQ Manager to join their growing team in Sussex.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality professional to play a key role across a diverse portfolio of civil engineering, water infrastructure and coastal defence projects.
The company delivers complex schemes across the water and environmental sectors, including deep drainage, reinforced concrete structures, river and coastal defence works, and water treatment plant projects.
This role would suit an experienced HSEQ Manager, Health & Safety Manager, SHEQ Manager or Senior HSEQ Advisor with a strong background in civil engineering, utilities or water infrastructure projects.
The Role Reporting directly to the Company Director, the HSEQ Manager will lead and support regional HSEQ initiatives while ensuring full compliance with health & safety legislation, environmental standards and quality management systems.
Key Responsibilities Conduct detailed site inspections and audits across multiple civil engineering projects Identify hazards, minimise risks and drive continuous HSEQ improvement Promote a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture across site teams Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and HSEQ training sessions Provide practical and consistent HSEQ guidance to operational teams and site management Ensure site supervisors and subcontractors follow company procedures and statutory requirements Build collaborative relationships with client-side HSEQ teams and stakeholders Support incident investigations and review corrective actions Monitor HSEQ Advisor inspections and ensure actions are closed out effectively Agree and monitor monthly inspection and compliance targets Support environmental compliance and quality assurance processes across projects Requirements NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) CSCS Safety Professional Card Proven HSEQ experience within civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure projects Previous experience within the water sector highly desirable Strong knowledge of deep drainage, reinforced concrete and water-related civil engineering works Good understanding of quality management systems and compliance procedures Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Confident liaising with operatives, management teams, clients and external stakeholders Strong Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint Excellent presentation, reporting and organisational skills Why Apply?
