About the role

We’re recruiting for an experienced HGV Driver Training & Assessment Lead to join an established specialist transport business.

This is a hands-on role focused on driver assessments, inductions, training and ongoing competency development. You’ll work closely with the Transport and Compliance teams to maintain high standards of safety, compliance and professional driving.


Key Responsibilities


  • Conduct practical Category C & C+E driver assessments
  • Deliver driver inductions, refresher and remedial training
  • Coach drivers on safe driving, reversing, manoeuvring and vehicle operation
  • Carry out post-incident assessments and training
  • Deliver training on trailers, load security, tail-lifts and ramps
  • Monitor driver competency and identify training needs
  • Maintain accurate training and assessment records
  • Support continuous improvement of driver standards and safety


About You


  • Full Category C+E licence, held for at least 3 years
  • Current Driver CPC
  • Strong recent professional HGV driving experience
  • Confident assessing and coaching other drivers
  • Good knowledge of drivers’ hours, tachographs xwzovoh and road transport legislation
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Able to challenge unsafe practices professionally
  • Driver trainer/assessor qualification desirable, but not essential
