Steelwork Project Manager

Steelwork Project Manager London / London Colney (Hybrid) £60,000 - £80,000 + Benefits A growing structural steelwork and architectural metalwork contractor is seeking an experienced Steelwork Project Manager to join its expanding team. With a strong pipeline of projects across London and the surrounding areas, this is an excellent opportunity for a project-focused professional looking to play a key role in delivering complex steelwork packages from design through to completion. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, combining site-based responsibilities across London with office-based work from London Colney. The Opportunity Reporting directly to the Managing Directors and Contracts Director, you will be responsible for managing multiple structural steelwork projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-construction and design coordination through to handover and defects management. Key Responsibilities Managing structural steelwork projects from design development to completion Coordinating design information through RIBA Stages 3-5 Attending Design Team Meetings and coordinating comments between design teams and detailers Preparing project quality documentation including ITPs, QAPs, QA records and O&M manuals Producing and reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements Coordinating labour, plant, materials and subcontractor packages Managing fabrication schedules and delivery programmes Monitoring project progress, budgets and programme performance Identifying and managing contract variations Supporting commercial activities including valuations and cost tracking Leading client, subcontractor and progress meetings Managing quality processes and NCR close-out procedures Producing project handover documentation and overseeing the defects period Maintaining excellent client and stakeholder relationships throughout project delivery Requirements Minimum 5 years' experience in a Project Management, Site Management or similar leadership role Extensive knowledge of the structural steelwork industry Trade, engineering or construction management background Strong understanding of construction methodologies and project planning Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and site teams Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Strong commercial awareness Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Highly organised with strong attention to detail Proficient in Microsoft Office and project administration systems Desirable Experience delivering cut & carve projects NVQ Level 6 in Construction Management or equivalent SMSTS Relevant industry qualifications or professional memberships What's on Offer? £60,000 - £80,000 salary depending on experience Hybrid working arrangement Company pension scheme 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays Business expenses covered Clear progression opportunities within a growing business Exposure to a diverse range of structural steel and architectural steelwork projects across London
