Location: Dudley
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 DOE
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 16:30

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced CAD Technician – Structural Steel & Staircases to join an established and growing business based in Dudley.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CAD Technician with experience in structural steelwork and architectural metalwork to take responsibility for producing detailed, accurate and fabrication-ready drawings for a variety of projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, architects, project managers and workshop teams, taking designs from initial concepts through to final fabrication drawings.

Key Responsibilities

* Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for structural steelwork, secondary steel and architectural metalwork.

* Create General Arrangement (GA) drawings and fabrication/detailing drawings.

* Design and detail bespoke staircases, balustrades and handrails.

* Carry out site surveys and measurements to ensure accurate project dimensions.

* Liaise with architects, structural engineers, project managers and fabrication teams.

* Interpret architectural drawings, structural calculations and technical specifications.

* Produce cutting lists, material schedules and assembly drawings.

* Ensure drawings meet relevant building regulations and industry standards.

* Maintain accurate drawing records and revision control.

Skills & Experience Required

* Previous experience as a CAD Technician, Structural Steel Draughtsman or Steel Detailer.

* Strong experience within structural steelwork, architectural metalwork or secondary steel.

* Proficiency in AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, Autodesk Advance Steel or SolidWorks.

* Ability to produce detailed fabrication and general arrangement drawings.

* Good understanding of structural steel connections and fabrication processes.

* Knowledge of staircase design, including risers, goings, balustrades and handrails.

* Experience undertaking site surveys and measurements.

* Excellent attention to detail and strong technical drawing skills.

Ideally, candidates will have 5–10+ years' experience within the structural steel or architectural metalwork industry.

Salary & Benefits

* £45,000 – £55,000 per annum, depending on experience.

* Monday to Friday working.

* 08:00 – 16:30 hours.
