Stores Operative

Stores Controller 📍 Stockport Are you an experienced Stores or Warehouse professional looking to take ownership of a busy stores function within a growing engineering and manufacturing business? We're recruiting for a Stores Controller to oversee the day-to-day running of the stores department, ensuring materials are received, stored, issued and dispatched efficiently while maintaining high standards of accuracy, safety and compliance. The Role As Stores Controller, you'll be responsible for the smooth operation of the stores function, working closely with purchasing, production and other departments to ensure materials are available when needed and shipped on time. Key Responsibilities Manage all goods inwards, including receipt, inspection and inventory control. Oversee stock accuracy, stock movements and regular stock counts. Coordinate domestic and international shipping, ensuring correct documentation and packaging. Maintain accurate records using the company's ERP system. Ensure stores are organised, safe and operating efficiently. Monitor stock levels and work with Purchasing to forecast material requirements. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the stores function. Ensure compliance with quality, health & safety and environmental procedures.What We're Looking For Minimum 3 years' experience within a Stores, Warehouse or Materials Control environment. Experience managing domestic and international shipping. Strong inventory management and stock control knowledge. Experience using an ERP/MRP system (SAP, IFS, Microsoft Dynamics or similar). Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail. A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement. Knowledge of ISO9001 or working within a quality-driven manufacturing environment is advantageous.What's on Offer Flexible working options.
