Core subjects tutor - Alternative Provision

This is not a standard teaching role. At Pathway Academy Zone, you will be working with young people who need more than just lessons - they need structure, belief, and someone who can genuinely engage them. We are a new school in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, and because of that, this role is rare. You will not just be delivering a curriculum handed down to you - you will help shape how learning is delivered here. You will have a direct line to leadership, real influence over the school’s development, and the opportunity to build something that lasts. We are looking for a Core Subject Tutor who can deliver English, Maths and Science, while also contributing to a broader curriculum that supports personal development and real-life readiness. You will work with small groups and on a 1:1 basis, helping learners who may have faced barriers in mainstream education to re-engage and progress. What You Will Be Doing * Delivering engaging sessions across English, Maths and Science (KS3/KS4) * Supporting delivery of wider curriculum areas including PSHE, RSHE, Humanities, RE and PE * Adapting teaching approaches to suit individual learning needs * Working closely with learners with SEMH and additional needs * Building strong relationships to improve behaviour and engagement * Monitoring progress and maintaining clear, accurate records * Supporting learners towards positive outcomes and progression What We Are Looking For * Experience working with young people, ideally within alternative provision or similar settings * Confidence delivering core subjects at KS3/KS4 level * Ability to engage learners who may be disengaged from education * Strong behaviour management and communication skills * A calm, resilient and adaptable approach * Teaching qualification or relevant subject-based degree Desirable: * Experience with SEN or SEMH learners * Background in alternative provision or PRU settings * Team Teach or equivalent de-escalation training Why Join Pathway Academy Zone We are a new school.
