As a Building Surveyor (Legal Disrepair) at Peabody, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality repairs, maintenance and property services, helping to resolve legal disrepair cases efficiently and professionally.Working within one of our regional Property Services teams, you'll manage disrepair cases from start to finish, providing technical expertise, project management and excellent customer service. Supported by a team of Disrepair Coordinators and Case Managers, you'll work closely with residents, contractors and colleagues to ensure good outcomes for our customers while protecting Peabody's interests.What you'll doManage legal disrepair cases from initial inspection through to completion and resolutionCarry out site inspections, investigations and building surveys to identify defects and recommend solutionsPrepare specifications, schedules of work, estimates and technical reports using the National Schedule of RatesEnsure remedial works are delivered safely, efficiently and in compliance with all relevant regulationsManage contractors delivering disrepair works, monitoring quality, performance and complianceAct as the key technical point of contact for residents, colleagues and stakeholders throughout each caseCarry out pre-inspections, handovers and post-inspections to ensure works meet required standardsWork collaboratively with Asset Management, Repairs and other internal teams to deliver seamless servicesSupport the organisation in mitigating legal liability and managing disrepair risks effectivelyParticipate in the Property Services out-of-hours rota and provide technical support when requiredWhat you'll needExtensive experience in building surveying and building pathology, ideally within social housingStrong knowledge of the Housing Disrepair Protocol and experience managing legal disrepair casesDetailed understanding of Schedule of Rates and methods of measurementExperience managing multiple complex cases from inception through to completionExcellent customer relationship management skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent report-writing and technical documentation skillsGood knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and building regulationsStrong IT skills and experience using property management systemsAbility to prioritise workloads and meet demanding deadlinesExperience presenting technical information to a variety of audiencesA clean, manual, UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle is desirable but not essentialQualificationsDegree in Building Surveying or a related technical discipline, or HNC/HND equivalentProfessional membership (preferred)Candidates with significant relevant experience may be considered in place of formal qualificationsWho you areYou will be:Accountable, professional and committed to doing the right thingCustomer-focused and passionate about delivering excellent serviceA strong problem solver who can make informed decisions under pressureAble to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with othersOrganised, resilient and able to manage a varied caseloadCommitted to achieving positive outcomes for residents and the wider organisationWhat We Offer30 days annual leave, plus bank holidaysTwo paid volunteering days each yearFlexible benefits scheme and employee discount portalLife assurance at 4x your salaryUp to 10% pension contributionPlease read before applyingThis role involves regular travel across your designated area, undertaking inspections, managing contractors and working closely with residents to resolve legal disrepair cases.There is an option to participate in the Property Services Out of Hours rota, which may include evenings and weekends but this is not compulsory.Interviews will be held in person on Thursday 27th August at Hugh Cubitt Community Centre.Reach out to George Murphy, Talent Specialist, at george.murphy@peabody.Role Profile - Building Surveyor (Disrepair).
