Where will you be working?
We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. This role will be within our water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

What will you be doing?
Estimating activities in M Group are undertaken in accordance with the Schedule of Delegated Authorities (SODA) and Work Winning Governance Procedures. This role requires a detail-oriented, commercially astute professional who can accurately assess costs, develop competitive pricing strategies, and ensure compliance with governance requirements for framework contracts and project-specific tenders. The Estimator will play a key role in securing profitable work by producing high-quality, compliant, and market-competitive estimates that align with the M Groups growth and margin objectives.
You'll complete detailed cost estimating in line with the M Group Water Estimating Strategy, Governance, and Assurance requirements, preparing accurate and timely estimates for framework contracts and individual project tenders across Clean Water Mains Replacement and Wastewater Storm Overflow works. Ensure all estimates fully reflect scope, risk profile, contract conditions, and margin enhancement objectives, while remaining compliant with SODA and Work Winning Governance procedures. Maintain full visibility and tracking of estimating submissions, ensuring sequential tender authorisation and stage-gate approvals are achieved. Work closely with project teams, bid managers, commercial teams, and operational leads, I develop robust, commercially viable estimates aligned to delivery strategies. Support the continuous improvement of estimating tools, procedures, and templates across the business.
What you'll bring

• Strong technical and commercial understanding of construction methods and market trends.
• Proficient in estimating software, cost databases, and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents for accurate cost build-ups.
• Effective communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet strict tender deadlines.
• Proactive approach to identifying cost and efficiency improvements.
