About the role

Job IntroductionWe currently have 2no. MEP Access Managers to join our Shafts & Headhouses team here at SCS Railways. About the role:Reporting to the MEP Asset Lead, the candidate will be responsible for Access management of an Asset during the AFO & MEP fit-out stages of shafts and headhouses on the HS2 S1 and S2 lots.Role ResponsibilityReview Designs for compliance with Contract Requirements alongside practical & efficient buildability and maintenance requirementsMonitor design progress to ensure adequate safety measures are considered in construction and T&C stagesUnderstanding of the T&C Strategy and associated Industry Standard Safe Systems of WorkInput into identifying long lead time and high-risk packages and products and access routes to and from delivery locations to the final install point Assist with the development and submission of MEP Permit proceduresWorking with the planning team to develop and maintain and monitor a robust programme that is cascaded and understood by the entire construction team inc. 6 week lookaheadLiaising with any Third Parties, HS2 or HSRS to manage early access requirements and adequate handoversOther ResponsibilitiesAssisting with the Implementation of the health, safety, environmental and quality standards into construction planning and works.Promoting and monitoring the roll out and implementation of SCS values and behavioursThe Ideal CandidateEssential:A professional qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related subject Experience of delivering MEP works on a major rail or infrastructure projectKnowledge of industry regulations for Construction and testing and commissioning of building services (e.g. BS 7671 and Building Regulations).Relevant CSCS Card. SMSTS or equivalent.Desirable:Excellent communication and negotiation skillsExperience in interfaces with High Voltage, Low Voltage & Communications and Tunnel Ventilation. Experience in managing interfaces between Supply Chain and managing Access arrangements inc. MEP Riser ManagementStrong leadership, communication and conflict management skillsAbout the CompanyThe role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed servicesThe Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.You’ll be a welcomed member of the wider team, with opportunities to take on additional responsibility, join our EDI Champions program or support the local community (e.g. as a STEM ambassador).Your personal and professional development is important to us.
