About the role

Managing Director – ICP & Utilities (UK – National Role)

A high-growth infrastructure business is seeking a Managing Director to lead and scale its ICP & Utilities division, with full accountability for strategy, operations and commercial performance across a diverse and expanding portfolio.

This is a pivotal leadership role with responsibility for established multi-utility platforms alongside the development and expansion of an EHV ICP capability, delivering grid connections across renewables, BESS, EV infrastructure and industrial & commercial sectors.

You will take full ownership of the division’s P&L, driving growth, operational excellence and delivery performance, while building a market-leading ICP proposition focused on quality, safety, certainty and commercial transparency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and executing a 3–5 year growth strategy across ICP and EHV markets up to 132kV
  • Owning end-to-end delivery from early engagement through to energisation
  • Building and managing high-performing teams across operations, commercial and work-winning functions
  • Driving major bids, developing client relationships and securing long-term frameworks and partnerships
  • Ensuring compliance with NERS accreditation, DNO/IDNO requirements and all regulatory standards
  • Embedding a strong safety, quality and performance culture across the division
  • Acting as the senior point of contact for key clients and stakeholders

We are looking for:

  • Senior leadership experience at Director or Managing Director level within ICP, HV or EHV power infrastructure
  • Proven track record delivering grid connection projects, ideally within renewables, BESS or large power users
  • Strong technical and commercial understanding of contestable works and utility delivery models
  • Experience managing DNO/IDNO relationships and navigating approvals and energisation processes
  • Demonstrated success in building teams, driving growth and operating within high-growth environments
  • Degree-qualified in Electrical or Power Engineering, with chartership highly desirable

This is a rare opportunity to take a strategic leadership position within a growing and ambitious business, shaping the future of its utilities division and playing a key role in the UK’s energy and infrastructure transition
