The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a facilities team supporting a major healthcare site in Hampstead, London.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to work within a dynamic and highly regulated healthcare environment, helping to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of mechanical systems critical to the continued operation of the site.
You will be responsible for maintaining and supporting a range of mechanical building services, while ensuring all systems remain compliant, operational and fit for purpose.
A Typical Day
As a Mechanical Engineer, your day-to-day responsibilities will include carrying out planned preventative maintenance, inspections and reactive repairs across a range of mechanical building services.
You will work with systems including HVAC, plumbing, heating, ventilation and medical gas systems, diagnosing faults and implementing effective solutions to maintain reliable site operations.
The role will also involve monitoring equipment performance, identifying potential issues before they lead to breakdowns and ensuring maintenance activities are completed in line with relevant health and safety, statutory and regulatory requirements.
You will maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, system performance and compliance documentation, while supporting energy management initiatives and identifying opportunities to improve system efficiency.
Working as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team, you will collaborate with engineers, contractors and site stakeholders to support ongoing projects, operational improvements and the continued reliability of the healthcare environment.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
* A degree or relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Proven experience working in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or Facilities Management.
* Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and mechanical building services.
* Experience working with medical gas systems would be advantageous.
* Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
* A good understanding of health and safety, compliance and regulatory requirements.
* The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider engineering team.
* A proactive and professional approach to maintenance and engineering.
Experience within a healthcare, hospital or other critical environment would be highly advantageous.
