We're looking for an experienced and motivated Registered Building Inspector (Class 2A-F) to help deliver safe, compliant and high-quality building control services across our partner authorities. You will play a key role in ensuring the safety, quality and integrity of a wide range of domestic and commercial construction projects.
In this role, you will independently manage a varied caseload of Class 2A-F applications, carrying out plan assessments, conducting site inspections and delivering proportionate enforcement action where required. You will provide clear, practical and professional regulatory advice to clients, contractors, colleagues and partner organisations, ensuring projects meet all relevant legislation and standards.
You will also contribute to wider service excellence, supporting improvements to our Quality Management System and OSR compliance, and playing an active role in mentoring and guiding trainee inspectors and Class 2A (Domestic) RBIs. The role also includes responding to dangerous structures and participating in the out-of-hours rota.
About You
You'll be registered with the BSR as a Class 2A-F Registered Building Inspector with demonstrable experience in a building control surveying role, ideally within a local authority building control setting or a registered building control approver environment.
You will bring strong technical knowledge of building regulations, OSR requirements and professional codes of practice, along with experience managing a caseload of Class 2A-F buildings and the ability to interpret legislation in a practical, confident manner.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently with accuracy, professionalism and sound judgement, and a collaborative approach, combined with the confidence to influence, negotiate and build effective relationships are all essential.
You will also be proficient in Microsoft Office and building control software, hold a full UK driving licence, and be able to work safely on site
Closing date: Sunday 10th May 2026
Interviews: w/c 17th May 2026
