About the role

IT Field Engineer
Salary: Up to £45,000 + benefits
Location: Central London | Mon-Thu client sites, Fri WFH
Some IT support roles are all about tickets. This one is about technology, people and becoming someone your clients genuinely trust.
We're partnering with a growing technology consultancy looking for an IT Field Engineer to support a portfolio of professional services clients across Central London.
You'll spend Monday to Thursday working across client sites, solving technical issues, building relationships and becoming a trusted point of contact for IT. Fridays are typically worked from home, giving you dedicated time to manage tickets and catch up away from client sites.
This could suit an existing Field Engineer or a strong 2nd Line Engineer looking for a more independent, client-facing role.
You'll be troubleshooting across Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, applications, laptops, printers and networking. You don't need to be a Network Engineer, but you should be comfortable with fundamentals such as DNS, DHCP, IP addressing, Wi-Fi and basic connectivity troubleshooting.
Technical ability is important, but so is how you work with people. You'll need to communicate confidently with non-technical users, think on your feet and take ownership of problems rather than simply escalating them. Ultimately, you need to give clients confidence that their IT is in safe hands.
You'll likely have:

Strong 2nd Line IT support experience

Good Windows and Microsoft 365 troubleshooting skills

A solid understanding of basic networking, including DNS, DHCP, IP addressing and Wi-Fi

MSP, Field Engineer or client-facing IT support experience

Strong troubleshooting skills and a logical approach to problem solving

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Confidence working independently with clients

A proactive attitude towards learning and developing technically

Microsoft certifications would be desirable, but aren't essential
If you're technically strong, good with people and want more ownership, variety and face-to-face client interaction, this could be a great next step
