Consultant Psychiatrist - General Adult - CMHT

Position Overview

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a full‑time substantive Consultant Psychiatrist for the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) in Bury. This is a community post based at the Irwell Unit, Fairfield General Hospital. Bury operates an Inpatient‑Outpatient model (New Ways of Working) and is staffed by six full‑time Consultants in Adult Psychiatry.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality mental health care for adults with severe and enduring mental health problems within the community.
• Work closely with other teams and Consultants to ensure coherent, high‑quality mental health care for adults within the Bury area.
• Collaborate with other Consultants to support service development and attend local and divisional service development meetings.
• Each Consultant is allocated a Junior Doctor (NW Deanery training schemes) and receives support from an advanced practitioner and speciality doctor; the EIT is covered by a part‑time Consultant.

Teaching and Research

Bury has a strong teaching commitment; Consultants are expected to contribute to the teaching of medical and nursing staff and maintain links with ongoing research projects. Consultants also engage with local service user and carer groups.
