Import Clerk

Pay: £33,000.00 per year Location: Wednesbury Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm (30 minutes lunch unpaid) Job summary We are seeking an experienced Imports Clerk to join our clients busy freight handling company. The business is an established, very successful family run company and this is a great opportunity to be part of that success. Freight handled is predominantly automotive, machinery and materials but recently new business has come on from the MOD and music, football and fashion industries. The successful candidate will handle road, sea and air freight processes from initial quotation stage through to invoice. The role is 100% office based, our client is looking for someone to start as soon as possible and for the right person there is scope to progress Duties will include: * Processing of enquiries and preparation of quotations * Preparing and checking import documentation * Preparing and supplying information required for customs * Tracking shipments * Co-ordinating deliveries – arranging collection of cleared freight * Handling arrival notices * Arranging transport with hauliers, shipping lines, airlines, freight forwarders and courier companies * Liaising with customers, HMRC and customer agents * Compliance * Invoicing Experience: * A minimum of two years experience in import procedures and processes * Must have worked in a similar role previously * Excellent IT skills and a competent user of MS Office * Great communication skills * Comfortable working in a busy environment Benefits: * Salary £33,000 * 20 days paid holiday per annum, plus 8 days statutory banks holidays * New employees can join a company pension scheme or opt out * Free to use electric vehicle charging point
