The first internal role of its kind at Home-Start HOST, their new HR Manager will help them ensure families with young children flourish during the years of early childhood. You’ll support them to do this through expertly managing the HR function, shaping organisational culture and delivering training to upskill leaders.
Salary : £42,839-£46,142 pro rata (FTE, 36 hours per week), depending on experience.
Contract : Permanent, part-time, 24 hours per week . Reduced hours and flexible working considered.
Location : Hybrid, mostly at home, but also present at Audenshaw office.
Benefits : 24 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 29 days after 5 years of service (pro rata), up to 6% employer pension contribution, flexible working arrangements and cycle to work scheme.
*You’ll need to be onsite for team meetings twice a month, plus some additional days to support training and development of the team.
Home-Start HOST works alongside families with young children, empowering them to build confidence, strengthen relationships and create positive, resilient futures. They do this through a wide range of services, including one-to-one support in the home, early learning, breastfeeding, perinatal support and their baby bank, which supports 100 families a month.
They know how tough parenting can be and the difference the right support can make.
Part of the Home-Start UK network, they support parents across Tameside, Oldham, Stockport, Bolton & Glossop.
This is an especially exciting role, as Home-Start HOST’s first-ever in-house HR lead. Your remit will include staff recruitment, development, training, welfare and equality, and diversity and inclusion.
You will take responsibility for the functionality of HR processes and policies across the organisation, keeping on top of changes or updates to UK employment law, HR best practice, pay & benefits and you’ll work closely with the CEO and board to ensure the organisation remains compliant.
You’ll oversee recruitment processes for staff and volunteers, ensuring fairness and inclusion are always front and centre and support line managers to feel confident and capable when it comes to HR and employee relations.
This is a unique and special opportunity to grow a HR function from the ground up, driving policy and influencing the culture of Home-Start HOST.
This role would suit an experienced, knowledgeable and conscientious HR professional who’s passionate about helping an organisation stay true to its values, put people at the heart of its decisions and maintain robust, effective HR practices.
Key attributes we're looking for in our new HR Manager include:
Knowledge and experience of applying UK employment law and HR best practice
Experience across the breadth of HR; employee relations, recruitment and policy development
Most importantly, you believe in supporting parents when they need it most and helping set children up for positive and healthy futures.
If you’re keen to get stuck into an HR leadership role where you’ll have the autonomy of a smaller organisation, alongside the support of a national network, we’d love to hear from you.
