SEN Teaching Assistant – Pentre, Rhondda Cynon Taf
Are you an experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a positive impact within a special school environment? We are seeking passionate professionals to join a well-established school in the Pentre area of Rhondda Cynon Taf. This SEN Teaching Assistant role offers an excellent opportunity to support learners with diverse needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), global developmental delay, and other special educational needs (SEN).
Key Responsibilities:
* Support and supervise students with ASD, PDA, Global Delay, and challenging behaviours.
* Assist learners during the start and end of the school day, ensuring a smooth transition.
* Help prepare classrooms for lessons and support staff with organising resources.
* Work closely with learners on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to promote engagement and learning.
* Support the delivery of lessons alongside the class teacher and help facilitate classroom activities.
* Engage learners during breaks, support lunchtime routines, and promote positive behaviour.
* Adhere to the school’s behaviour management policies and ensure a safe, inclusive environment.
* Promote independence and confidence among learners with additional needs.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Minimum of three months’ experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, particularly within SEN environments.
* Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC); support available for registration if needed.
* Current Enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
* References covering the last two years, with no significant gaps.
* Right to work within the UK.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Experience with SEN children, particularly those with autism, PDA, or global delay.
* Knowledge of behaviour management policies and strategies.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* Childcare or educational support qualifications are beneficial but not essential.
