About the role

Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Aviation & Fuel Infrastructure MASHCo (Manchester Airport Storage & Hydrant Company) operates the aviation fuel farm at Manchester Airport, delivering fuel reliably and safely to one of the UK's busiest airports. We are looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team - a technically demanding, safety-critical role, combining hands-on mechanical maintenance with planning, coordination and technical reporting,in a highly regulated environment, and an opportunity to build real depth in fuel farm and hydrant systems, carry genuine responsibility from day one, and be part of a team that takes genuine pride in what it does. Location: Manchester Airport, on-site Salary: £50,677 to £53,658 depending on experience, rising to £59,620 on successful completion of training and assessment as fully competent in role Hours: 37.5 hours per week, primarily Monday to Friday, with some planned overtime and nights as required, averaging once every 2 months. Contract: Permanent What you'll be doing * Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive fault-finding across fuel farm plant, hydrant systems, valves, pumps, and associated infrastructure. * Acting as an authorised person within the Permit to Work and Control of Work processes - preparing, issuing, monitoring, and closing out permits. * Coordinating third-party contractors on site: verifying completed works, reviewing documentation, and escalating quality or programme issues where needed. * Preparing and reviewing risk assessments and method statements, maintaining accurate service records, and producing technical reports for management. * Contributing to safety audits, compliance with JIG standards and COMAH requirements, and ongoing site improvement. * Recording maintenance activities, defects and repairs within CMMS, planning any rectifications in a timely manner in liaison with the maintenance team. * Providing regular updates to the Maintenance Manager on maintenance progress, equipment condition, outstanding defects and operational risks. What you need to bring * NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with at least five years of hands-on post-apprenticeship maintenance experience. * Practical background in an industrial, safety-critical, or regulated environment - aviation, fuel, petrochemical, utilities, or similar. * Experience working within a formal Control of Work system and preparing or reviewing RAMS. * Confident IT skills, experience using a CMMS, and the ability to produce clear written documentation. * Full driving licence and eligibility for an airside pass (five-year checkable employment history and basic DBS).
