The Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Construction Buyer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating and purchasing construction materials, equipment and services to support ongoing projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and timely delivery.
This role requires a strong understanding of procurement processes, supply chain logistics and ERP systems. You will work closely with project managers, site teams, suppliers and internal departments to optimise procurement activities, meet project specifications and maintain efficient, seamless operations across all construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Support project team in sourcing materials, equipment, and services, ensuring competitive pricing and reliable quality.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate favourable terms and pricing agreements, and oversee supplier accounts.
Work closely with project managers and site teams to meet project-specific requirements, ensuring the timely delivery of materials and tools to optimise project flow.
Monitor inventory levels, manage stock levels to optimise cash flow, and conduct market research to find new suppliers, products, and cost-saving opportunities.
Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and pricing agreements and support accounts payable with invoice processing for timely supplier payments.
Assist in resolving supply chain issues and ensure all procured items meet industry safety, health, and environmental standards.
Stay informed of market conditions, industry trends, and regulatory changes impacting procurement.
Requirements:
. Minimum of 4-5 years as a Buyer in the construction industry; experience in high-end residential or hospitality fit-out projects is advantageous.
Strong understanding of procurement processes, construction materials and supply chain management principles.
Exceptional negotiation and relationship-building skills with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities effectively and maintain meticulous records.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with procurement software is preferred.
A degree or equivalent qualification in business, supply chain management, or a related field is beneficial.
