About the role

We are partnering with a leading construction consultancy to recruit Cost Managers and Cost Consultants to join their expanding Transmission & Distribution team.This is an excellent opportunity to work on major UK infrastructure projects that are helping to modernise and strengthen the electricity network. You'll play a key role in providing commercial and cost management support across the full project lifecycle, working closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.Whether you're an experienced Cost Consultant looking for your next challenge or ready to step into a more senior role, this position offers genuine career progression, exposure to nationally significant projects and a collaborative working environment.The RoleAs a Cost Manager, you will be responsible for delivering robust commercial and cost management services, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, within budget and in line with contractual requirements.You'll work closely with clients and project teams to provide commercial insight, manage risk and drive successful project outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, contractors and key project stakeholders.Administer contracts in accordance with project objectives, governance requirements and company procedures.Prepare and maintain accurate cost forecasts, budgets and financial reports throughout the project lifecycle.Monitor project expenditure, identify cost variances and implement effective mitigation strategies.Manage contract cash flow, ensuring applications, assessments and payments are processed accurately and on time.Support programme delivery through effective cost control, commercial management and value engineering.Manage contract change, compensation events and variations while ensuring compliance with governance procedures.Produce accurate commercial reporting and continually improve forecasting accuracy.Provide commercial advice and support to project teams and clients.Negotiate and agree final accounts with contractors and suppliers.Lead commissions and mentor junior members of the team where appropriate.Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance commercial processes and project performance.About YouWe're looking for commercially minded professionals with experience delivering cost management services within infrastructure, utilities, construction or engineering projects.Ideally, you'll have experience in:Cost management and commercial managementNEC3 or NEC4 contract administration (Option C experience is advantageous)Cost forecasting, budgeting and reportingChange control and compensation event managementValuations and final accountsRisk and opportunity managementProcurement and tender evaluationEstimating and pricingValue management and value engineeringWorking collaboratively with multidisciplinary teamsLeading commissions and supporting junior colleaguesIdentifying efficiencies and driving continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycleQualificationsDegree qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or a related discipline.Membership of, or working towards membership of, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or another relevant professional institution is desirable.Salary:Up to 70000 (DOE)Location:Glasgow or Perth Type:permanentSUBMIT CV
