Software Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to join SRUC at the forefront of digital innovation in agriculture, contributing to the development of cutting-edge digital twin technologies within the Digital Dairy Chain project. As a Software Engineer, you will play a key role in advancing the { farm-twin } platform, helping to design and deliver reliable, secure, and scalable software solutions that support real-world research across dairy farms in South-West Scotland and Cumbria. Working within a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment, you will partner closely with experienced data scientists to translate complex research challenges into impactful technical solutions.

The role offers a unique blend of hands-on development and operational responsibility, from enhancing the core codebase and integrating data connectors to deploying and maintaining the platform on SRUC infrastructure. You will contribute to an evolving open-source ecosystem that directly supports innovation in sustainable agriculture and decision-making on commercial farms. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about developing technology with real-world impact and is eager to be part of a forward-thinking organisation driving change in the rural sector.

Minimum Qualifications and experience:

Honours degree level (SCQF level 10) qualification including relevant material (e.g. cloud and web software development).
