About the role

You already know that the interesting geotechnical problems do not happen at a desk. They happen on constrained urban sites, next to live infrastructure, where the ground is never quite what the desk study promised. If that is the work you want more of, read on.This is a senior geotechnical role with a specialist engineering contractor that has spent decades doing the below ground work other firms quietly subcontract out. Think deep basements, piling, retaining systems and earthworks on some of the most complex sites in the capital. The role exists because the pipeline of major projects has grown faster than the senior bench, and the team needs an engineer who can own technical decisions rather than wait for them. You would lead the geotechnical design and interpretation on live projects, working close to the ground rather than three steps removed from it. You would size and justify foundation and retaining solutions, question the ground model when it deserves questioning, and have your name on the decisions that matter. There is a clear route to principal level for anyone who wants it.If you are a senior geotechnical engineer who has hit the ceiling at a firm where the design is done elsewhere and you simply check it, this is the opposite of that. You would be trusted to think.Salary is between 52,000 and 65,000.If this sounds like the move, send your CV and we can talk properly about whether it fits.If you've read this far and you're still unsure and would prefer a detailed market insight including salary bands and market trends - then check out our free guide here:
