Lecturer in Brickwork (Foundation Learning Directorate)
Location: Bersham
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: £33,596 – £51,932 (subject to evidence of progression)

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will deliver the vocational brickwork qualification to Level 1 learners, including theoretical and practical sessions, enrichment and employability sessions, and personal tutorials to support learner progress. They will also provide continuous wrap‑around support to increase engagement and progression for learners with barriers to learning.
Essential Requirements
- Proven extensive experience in brickwork, ideally domestic and commercial
- Able to prepare effective written and visual teaching materials
- Able to deal promptly and effectively with inappropriate behaviour in the classroom
- Minimum Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g. Cert Ed/PGCE) or working towards one
- Educated to a minimum Level 3 qualification
- Awareness of quality standards within teaching
- Understanding of current developments in specialist area and ability to keep up to date
- Knowledge of a broad range of learning needs and how to support them
- Ability to analyse and use key information to inform teaching and learning
- Commitment to safeguarding and awareness of its importance
Welsh Language Requirement
Welsh language skills are an essential requirement. Welsh learners with the ability to reach level 3/4 within 18 months to 2 years, or at Level 2 with commitment to achieving fluency, are also encouraged to apply. A Welsh language skills assessment will be part of the selection process.
Legal and Compliance
This role is covered by Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order and is classed as regulated activity. An Enhanced DBS with Barred List check is required, and applicants must disclose all cautions and convictions, including spent ones. Disclosure will not automatically prevent employment; a risk assessment will be carried out, and some convictions/cautions may be deemed unsuitable to work with children.
Successful candidates may need to register with the Education Workforce Council.
