At Oasis Academy Shirley Park Secondary, we have a new position open for a Pastoral Head of Year to join our friendly team.
Job Overview
Head of Year plays a pivotal role in leading the pastoral care, behaviour, attendance, personal development and safeguarding of an individual year group. This is a non teaching, student facing leadership role focused on ensuring that every pupil is supported, safe, and able to thrive academically and socially. The postholder acts as the central point of contact for pupils, parents, and staff regarding the year group’s progress, as well as being part of whole-school behaviour teams and wider safeguarding teams.
Job Requirements
- Experience in a pastoral, behaviour, safeguarding, or student support role within a school or youth setting.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and effective pastoral care.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and external agencies.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload and maintain accurate records.
- Proven ability to manage challenging situations using de-escalation and restorative approaches.
