Performance Test Engineer Hybrid / Leeds - one day Competitive contract rate Why Apply? A key contract opportunity for an experienced SC Cleared Performance Test Engineer working on a major public sector technology transformation. You'll take ownership of performance testing across a suite of integrated applications being migrated from on-premises into Azure. There is no established performance testing discipline, so you'll have genuine ownership of the approach, workload modelling, test execution and reporting. The results will directly support migration sign-off, with performance evidence reported to the external Authority. Performance Test Engineer Responsibilities Own the end-to-end performance testing approach across the migrated estate. Design and execute JMeter load, stress, spike and soak tests across applications, APIs, integrations and database-intensive processes. Define NFRs, workload models and performance acceptance criteria with technical and business stakeholders. Use Azure Monitor, Application Insights and application, infrastructure and database telemetry to identify bottlenecks and performance issues. Work with development and infrastructure teams on remediation and re-test fixes. Produce clear, evidence-based performance reports covering NFR compliance, capacity, scalability, risks and recommendations. Performance Test Engineer Requirements Strong hands-on JMeter experience is essential, including scripting, parameterisation, correlation and test execution. Proven experience delivering performance testing across complex, integrated application estates. Strong understanding of NFRs, workload modelling, capacity testing and performance analysis. Experience with Azure performance testing, Azure Monitor and Application Insights. Experience of API and integration performance testing, including working within security constraints. Confident challenging stakeholders and raising performance issues early, backed by clear evidence. Active SC clearance is essential. A high-visibility Performance Test Engineer contract where you'll establish and own the performance testing approach rather than simply execute someone else's test scripts. You'll work across a complex cloud migration, influence technical decisions and produce the evidence needed to support major migration milestones.
