About the role

Electoral Canvasser

Electoral Services are looking to recruit 20 people to carry out the role of Electoral Canvasser for us. This is a great opportunity to aid democracy, keep active and earn some cash over the summer!

Every year the Electoral Registration Officer must complete a canvass of electors. This exercise is done to ensure our register of electors is as accurate and complete as possible ahead of the following years elections. Part of this process is a door knock exercise to certain properties in the borough and this is where you come in!

Canvassers are paid £2 per return for the completed forms they bring back to us, 30p per form they need to post through a door and then there is a bonus structure ranging from £100-£200 depending on the percentage of forms they return.

Responsibilities

As an electoral canvasser, you will be given an allocation of properties to visit and it will be your responsibility to visit each property at least three times over a six week period to obtain a response. The door knock stage of the canvass will last six weeks with an exact start date still to be confirmed.

Qualifications

We are looking for people with a pro‑active attitude who are good communicators, with a calm demeanor and not afraid of a bit of hard work.
