Leap29 are working with a rapidly growing international renewable energy developer operating across the full project lifecycle, including development, construction, and operation of wind, solar, and emerging Power-to-X technologies.


The Grid Connections Manager will play a critical role in delivering grid connections for renewable energy projects across the UK, primarily solar PV.


This role spans the full project lifecycle—from development and grid offer stage through to construction, commissioning, and handover—ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.


You will work closely with internal EPC teams, external contractors, DNOs/TSOs, and key stakeholders to manage all aspects of grid connection delivery.


The role is on Hybrid, 3 days in Glasgow 2 days remote.


Key Responsibilities


Project & Grid Connection Delivery

  • Manage the delivery of grid connections for renewable energy projects (primarily solar PV) across the UK
  • Oversee and coordinate ICPs, DNOs, consultants, and contractors
  • Support projects from development through to Final Investment Decision (FID), construction, and commercial operation


Technical & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with grid codes, UK standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Review grid compliance studies (e.g. P28, G5/5) and commissioning documentation
  • Conduct design reviews and ensure adherence to engineering and safety standards


Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with DNOs, TSOs, utilities, and regulatory bodies
  • Negotiate and secure grid connection agreements, permits, and outages
  • Act as the subject matter expert on grid connections within project teams


Project Support & Coordination

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, design, risk, and project management
  • Support project planning through programme development, risk registers, and technical documentation
  • Contribute to decision-making on design, risks, and project strategy


Development & Pipeline Support

  • Support early-stage development by reviewing grid opportunities and connection offers
  • Contribute to pipeline growth aligned with regulatory frameworks (e.g. NESO CP30, CMP processes)


Construction & Site Oversight

  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, identify risks, and ensure quality delivery
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to grid connections


Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated on regulatory and industry changes
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and best practice development


Candidate Profile


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems xwzovoh Engineering, or equivalent experience


Experience

  • Proven experience delivering grid connection projects across the full lifecycle
  • Experience within the UK construction or renewable energy sector
  • Strong knowledge of UK electricity networks and industry stakeholders
  • Experience managing connections typically within the 33kV–132kV range


Technical Knowledge

  • Understanding of UK grid codes and compliance standards
  • Familiarity with studies such as P28 and G5/5
  • Knowledge of UK Health & Safety regulations

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and remotely
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
