Senior Technical Support Officer

Role: Senior Technical Support Officer Location: Hackney E8 Pattern: Hybrid Start: ASAP Length: 4 Months + Pay Rates: £21.53 per hour (PAYE) | £29.01 per hour (Umbrella) Service: Building Control Are you an experienced technical support professional with a strong background in local authority planning or building control? The London Borough of Hackney is seeking a Senior Technical Support Officer to oversee and drive the administrative and systems operations within their Building Control team. Key Responsibilities Team Supervision & Support: Supervise technical support staff, providing day-to-day direction, guidance, and workload management. Application Validation: Validate building regulation applications, initial notices, amendments, cancellation notices, and dangerous structure notices. Systems Leadership: Serve as the main point of contact for the service area's IT operating systems, GIS, web systems, and electronic document archives. Financial Management: Read complex plans, handle fee calculations, raise invoices, request purchase orders, and chase payments. Customer Service: Act as a key escalation point for complex enquiries, providing technical guidance to residents, contractors, and internal stakeholders. Requirements Experience: Strong operational background in administrative functions, with proven knowledge of Building Regulations legislation and application processes. Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret complex architectural plans and scale drawings. IT Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of back-office database systems, Google Suite/Microsoft Office, and GIS platforms. Supervisory Capability: Experience guiding team members, managing competing priorities, and delivering under pressure.
