About the role

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Handsworth area for a dedicated and experienced KS2 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This is a classroom-based role supporting pupils within Key Stage 2 who have additional learning and behavioural needs. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support, helping pupils to access learning, develop confidence and make positive progress within the classroom environment. Your responsibilities will include: * Providing classroom-based support to pupils with SEN within KS2 * Supporting children with additional needs such as ASD, ADHD and speech and language difficulties * Assisting the class teacher with adapting learning activities and resources * Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small groups where required * Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing * Helping to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment Requirements * Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant * Experience supporting children within KS2 * Strong understanding of SEN needs and support strategies * A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 desirable) * Excellent behaviour management and communication skills * A patient, resilient and proactive approach * Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one) Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will: * Be confident supporting pupils with additional needs in a classroom setting * Demonstrate initiative and adaptability * Build strong and positive relationships with pupils and staff * Be committed to supporting pupil progress and wellbeing * Work effectively as part of a team and contribute positively to school life About Supply Heroes: * Excellent rates of pay on PAYE * Around the clock support whenever you need it * Commitment to a quality of service and safeguarding * Support with any interviews and lesson observations * Transparency and honesty * Exclusive job roles around the West Midlands If you are interested in this role, please apply now with your CV.
