Are you a patient, caring and enthusiastic Classroom Support Assistant looking to make a genuine difference in a specialist SEN setting?

We are recruiting for a Classroom Support Assistant to join a specialist school in Chigwell, supporting children and young people with a range of additional and complex needs.

The school supports pupils aged 5-19 years, from Primary through to Sixth Form, including pupils with Autism (ASD), SLD, PMLD, communication difficulties, sensory needs and complex learning difficulties.

The Role

As a Classroom Support Assistant, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support within the classroom.
Help pupils access lessons and engage with learning activities.
Support pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
Follow individual EHCP targets and learning plans.
Encourage independence, confidence and life skills.
Support pupils with sensory and physical needs where required.
Assist with personal care where required.
Help manage behaviour positively and calmly.
Work closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff.
Help create a safe, supportive and engaging classroom environment.

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs.
Previous experience within SEN, education, care, support work, youth work or a similar setting.
A patient, caring and resilient approach.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Confidence working with pupils who may have complex needs.
A genuine passion for helping children and young people develop.
A valid Child and Adult DBS would be highly desirable.Experience supporting ASD, SLD, PMLD, sensory needs, communication difficulties or challenging behaviour would be beneficial.
