Electrical Design Engineer (Mid–Senior Level)Design & Build | Clean & Wastewater InfrastructureWest Sussex | Hybrid / Flexible WorkingPermanentOur client is a specialist engineering company across clean and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout the UK. Working closely with tier-one contractors and framework partners, they deliver robust, buildable electrical designs across treatment works, pumping stations, and network assets.Due to continued growth, they are seeking a mid-to-senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their South East-based team.The RoleYou will be involved in the full D&B design lifecycle, producing practical, construction-ready electrical designs and supporting projects through delivery. Key responsibilities include:Electrical design from outline design through to detailed design and construction issueDevelopment of buildable LV electrical designs including power distribution, MCCs, switchgear, control panels, standby generation, and earthing/bondingPreparation of electrical calculations such as load schedules, cable sizing, fault levels, and protection coordinationProduction and coordination of electrical drawings including single line diagrams, schematics, layouts, and cable schedulesClose coordination with mechanical, civil, ICA, and construction teams to resolve buildability, sequencing, and installation challengesTechnical review of supplier and subcontractor design informationSupport during construction, commissioning, and handover phasesEnsuring compliance with BS 7671, WIMES, DSEAR, CDM, and client standardsAbout YouYou will ideally have:A qualification in Electrical Engineering (degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent)Proven experience delivering electrical design within D&B water or wastewater projectsStrong understanding of construction-stage design development and contractor interfacesExperience working with MCC suppliers and electrical subcontractorsFamiliarity with electrical design tools such as Amtech/Trimble and AutoCADA pragmatic, delivery-focused approach to engineering designClear communication skills and confidence working in fast-paced project environmentsWorking towards or holding Chartered Engineer status (IET or equivalent) would be beneficial but is not essential.This role will suit an Electrical Design Engineer who enjoys hands-on design, contractor collaboration, and seeing projects through to delivery.Apply now or contact us for a confidential discussion.
