Job Title Learning Support Assistant, Challenging Behaviour School Type Alternative Provision Age Range of Pupils 14 to 16 years Location School‑based – Kings Heath (B14) Contract Type Long-term, Day to day cover, Term-time only New Directions is currently supporting an alternative provision in south Birmingham. The provision caters to individuals within key stage 4 (14-16 years) who have faced or are currently facing extremely challenging times in their young lives. Due to their lived experiences they can struggle to regulate their emotions and behaviour. With this in mind, building trust and a strong rapport with individuals is key to creating positive working relationships, and therefore all staff need to be reliable and dependable. Key Responsibilities Support young people aged 14–16years who are currently facing very challenging experiences Build strong positive relationships in order to motivate and encourage individuals to access their education Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), EHCP outcomes, and personalised learning programmes Follow behaviour policies and behaviour management plans Person Requirements Experience of working with young people with challenging backgrounds Dependable and realisable – high personal attendance records Ability to understand and empathise with young people Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent in demanding situations Strong communication and teamwork skills Commitment to inclusive education and pupil wellbeing Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or we can put one in place for you) Two satisfactory references covering a minimum of 12 months
