Where you can truly be yourself.Private Client and Tax Division – U.S. TeamThe Private Client and Tax division provides sophisticated legal advice to some of the world’s most successful people, from aristocracy to first, second and third generation entrepreneurs, industrialists, senior executives, celebrities, artists, philanthropists and other prominent figures. The firm has one of the largest and most comprehensive private client practices in the world. As well as acting for clients with a UK connection, the team has an international focus and acts for clients in Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and wider Europe in relation to trust and succession planning.The RoleThe Associate will join the firm's London-based U.S. Private Client and Tax team to advise a broad mix of international high net worth individuals, families, family offices, their closely held businesses and investment structures on U.S. and international tax, trust and estate planning. The work will be diverse covering issues such as international trust and estate planning, expatriation planning, pre-immigration planning, cross-border philanthropy, passive and active investment structuring for both U.S. clients and non-U.S. clients wishing to invest in the U.S.The responsibilities described above outline the core elements of the role but are not exhaustive. The Associate may be asked to undertake additional tasks as required to support the team and our clients in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.The ideal candidate must have strong experience inResearching and analysing Internal Revenue Code and Regulations provisionsPreparing technical advice memorandaDrafting wills and trustsWriting and speaking directly to clientsPerson SpecificationMust already be admitted to practice law in the U.S.Must be 2nd – 5th year Associate (preferably with a Juris Doctor)LLM in taxation / law school concentration in tax and estate planning / practical experiencePrior work experience outside of the U.S., particularly LondonDesire to combine drafting work with tax planning covering a range of estate/gift, personal tax, corporate and partnership tax scenariosThe EssentialsHybrid working (a minimum of 2-3 days per week on average in the office)Flexible benefits packageFor further information, please contact the recruitment team.Information for Recruitment AgenciesWithers endeavours to recruit and fill vacancies directly.
