This NDT Inspector role is based in Lincoln, working within the Quality Department. You will perform critical non-destructive testing using Dye Penetrant (PT) and Magnetic Particle (MT) methods to verify the integrity of manufactured components and welds, playing a key role in maintaining the highest quality standards on the shop floor.
As the NDT Inspector, your responsibilities will include:
Performing Dye Penetrant (PT) and Magnetic Particle (MT) inspections on components and welds in accordance with approved procedures
Setting up, calibrating, and operating NDT equipment using established techniques
Interpreting test results, evaluating indications against acceptance criteria, and accurately classifying defects
Preparing and maintaining NDT procedures, work instructions, and detailed inspection records
Preparing test areas and ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards
Supporting production teams with workflow, line balancing, and basic process improvement activities
Collecting and analysing production data and KPIs to drive continuous improvement
Providing day-to-day practical support and guidance to operators on best practices
Working closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to support quality assurance and new product introductions
Observing and promoting safe working practices at all times
Participating in waste reduction, cost saving, and efficiency improvement projects
Ensuring full compliance with health & safety standards, quality requirements, and company procedures
As the NDT Inspector you will bring:
Essential
Current EN4179 and NAS410 qualifications in Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
Proven experience performing PT and MT inspections in a manufacturing environment
Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret inspection results accurately
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with shop floor and cross-functional teams
Competence in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and the ability to maintain accurate documentation
Awareness of health & safety requirements in a production environment
Willingness to learn and support lean manufacturing / continuous improvement principles
Desirable
HNC/HND, degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
Experience with Time & Motion studies, cycle time analysis, or standard work development
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems or production reporting tools
Background in high-volume or precision manufacturing
Formal Lean or Six Sigma awareness/training
Experience in project work or continuous improvement initiatives
Shift Patterns (Overtime available when required)

B Shift (20% premium on Friday): MonThu 13:2521:05 | Fri 12:3519:00
