About the role

We are supporting a leading defence organisation with the appointment of an Equipment Requirement Authority to join its Weapon Systems Equipment team. This role would suit a Systems or Design Engineer looking to move into technical project management, requirements management and certification within a complex engineering environment.

Typical responsibilities include:

Managing the technical status and progression of assigned engineering work packages

Defining clear and accurate equipment requirements and ensuring effective flow down into internal and external design teams

Working with national and international Design Authorities to develop technical solutions and manage technical trades

Developing verification and validation strategies across electrical, mechanical, software and wider system properties

Preparing certification evidence and facilitating the exchange of technical information between suppliers and procurement teams

The ideal candidate will have:

An understanding of engineering design processes and their application

Knowledge of high-integrity hardware, networking technologies, custom electronics or complex mechanical design

Experience managing a small team or previous team leadership experience

The ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to define technical solutions

An understanding of commercial, military and safety standards relevant to engineering development
