Design Engineer

Overview

An established engineering manufacturer is seeking an Experienced Design Engineer to join its in-house engineering function. This is a hands-on, technically focused role working on the design and development of heavy-duty industrial machinery, supporting both new product development and continuous improvement of existing equipment.

Responsibilities

• You will play a key role within the design function, taking ownership of mechanical designs for industrial equipment and ensuring solutions are robust, manufacturable and compliant with relevant standards.

• Design and development of mechanical systems and components for heavy industrial machinery
• Creation of 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings
• Supporting new product development and evolution of existing designs
• Liaising with production, procurement and project teams to optimise design outcomes
• Participation in design reviews, risk assessments and validation activities
• Managing engineering documentation and design changes
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing
  

Criteria

• Background in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Experience in a Design Engineering role within a manufacturing or engineering environment
• Competent using 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor or equivalent)
• Good understanding of mechanical design, drawings, and manufacturing processes
• Practical, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work collaboratively
