Maintenance Mechanical Engineer

Shift Mechanical Engineer Location: Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospital Trust Sites Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (2 days (Apply online only) & 2 nights (Apply online only)) Rate: £16 - £25 per hour The Role We are currently recruiting for an experienced Shift Mechanical Engineer to join a busy healthcare estates maintenance team supporting a large NHS Trust estate, including the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital and associated healthcare facilities. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanical engineer with building services maintenance experience to work in a technically diverse environment where reliability, compliance and patient care are paramount. Key Responsibilities Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on a range of mechanical systems. Diagnose faults and undertake repairs to mechanical plant and equipment. Respond to engineering breakdowns and emergency call-outs. Monitor and respond to Building Management System (BMS) alerts. Maintain heating, ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, water systems and associated mechanical plant. Support minor installation, improvement and upgrade works. Complete all maintenance documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines to ensure service delivery across the estate. Adhere to all health and safety, infection control and site procedures.Requirements Recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent City & Guilds qualification. Minimum 3 years' post-apprenticeship maintenance experience. Strong fault-finding and repair skills across a range of mechanical building services systems, including: Ventilation systems Heating systems Boilers Pumps Compressors Hot and cold water systems Medical gas systems (desirable) Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Good communication and customer service skills. Full UK driving licence.Desirable Experience Previous NHS or healthcare estates maintenance experience.
