About the role - Programme Manager
Reporting directly to our Head of Delivery, the Programme Manager plays a pivotal role in balancing hands-on project delivery with leadership of our Project Management team. You will be managing your own projects and providing line management, guidance, and escalation support for the wider PM function.
This is a step beyond project management - it combines delivery expertise, people leadership, and operational oversight.
Project Delivery & Oversight
Lead the delivery of your own projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and to budget.
Provide escalation support to Project Managers, stepping in to resolve challenges, smooth client relationships, and ensure delivery standards are maintained.
Monitor the health of projects across the portfolio, proactively identifying risks, issues, or resourcing gaps.
Partner with internal teams (Product, Engineering, QA) and external third parties to keep projects on track.
Ensure projects are allocated resources effectively and workloads are balanced across the team.
Contribute to portfolio-level reporting, including project status, budgets, and resourcing.
Line manage the Project Management team, acting as the first point of escalation for project issues.
Mentor, coach, and develop PMs to improve their delivery skills and stakeholder management.
Support the hiring, onboarding, and training of new PM team members.
Champion best practices in project and portfolio management across the Professional Services function.
Capture lessons learned from projects and ensure they are fed back into future ways of working.
Hands-on project management experience, ideally in a SaaS environment.
Proven line management experience with Project Managers or similar roles.
Strong background in project and portfolio management, including resource allocation and forecasting
Solid understanding of both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, with the ability to apply the right approach.
Exposure to common web architectures and integration methods.
Confident with project management tools such as Jira, MS Project, or similar.
