Job Ref: MADescriptionService Engineer – Electrical BiasLocation: South WestSalary: 45,000 – 50,000 + OvertimeOTE: 60,000+Vehicle: Company VanWorking Hours: 40 hours per weekOvertime: Time & ½ after 40 hours | Saturday 1.5x | Sunday 2xOvernight Stays: Minimal – typically up to 2 nights per weekPension: 5% matchedHoliday: 25 days + bank holidaysThe CompanyMy client is a leading global manufacturer of VFFS and HFFS packaging machinery, with a strong reputation for engineering excellence and a growing presence worldwide.With over 60 employees across the UK, the business continues to perform strongly and is now expanding its Service Engineering team.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Service Engineer / Multi-Skilled Engineer to join an established and forward-thinking organisation, with excellent earning potential and the opportunity to work on high-value capital equipment.The RoleAs a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing and breakdown support of specialist packaging machinery at customer sites.The role is electrically biased, although a strong understanding of mechanical systems is essential.Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation and commissioning of new machineryPlanned servicing and maintenanceBreakdown diagnosis and repairElectrical fault finding and diagnosticsReading and interpreting electrical drawingsPLC and control system diagnosticsSoftware updates and system modificationsI/O card replacement and fault diagnosisHMI diagnostics, including inputs and outputsMechanical fault finding and repairsWorking with conveyors and associated material-handling equipmentSupporting customers within FMCG, food, packaging and manufacturing environmentsProviding a professional and proactive service at customer sitesAchieving first-time fixes wherever possibleWorking closely with the wider engineering and technical teamsTypically, you will attend one service visit per day, giving you the opportunity to properly diagnose and resolve issues rather than rushing between multiple sites.The role will involve working in wet and cold food-production environments, so candidates should be comfortable working within these conditions.The Ideal EngineerWe are looking for a technically strong and proactive engineer who enjoys fault finding and working directly with customers.You should have:An Electrical Engineering / Maintenance / Service Engineering backgroundStrong electrical fault-finding experienceGood mechanical diagnostic and repair skillsExperience working with capital equipmentExperience within FMCG, food, packaging, material handling or conveyor-based machineryThe ability to read and understand electrical drawingsExperience with HMIs, I/O and control systemsExperience with machinery commissioning, installation or servicingA proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem solvingStrong communication and customer-facing skillsThe ability to work independently while being part of a wider engineering teamQualificationsIdeally, you will hold a City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent engineering qualification across electrical.
