Principal Antenna Engineer and Capability Lead

Role OverviewThe Antennas Business Unit designs and supports advanced antenna systems for aerospace applications, including communication, navigation, and identification products.We are seeking a Capability Lead & Principal Antenna Engineer to lead antenna design and sustainment activities across the full lifecycle, from requirements and concept development through to simulation, prototyping, testing, and production support.The role also includes line management of the Antenna Design Team, providing technical leadership, mentoring, and driving professional development.You will work closely with senior engineering leadership to deliver both strategic and operational objectives across the business unit.Key ResponsibilitiesLead design, development, and testing of RF and antenna systemsCarry out electromagnetic simulation and performance optimisationSupport RF test, verification, and qualification activitiesLead requirements capture, analysis, and customer engagementOversee prototype testing and product validationSupport bids, technical proposals, and project estimatesMaintain project plans with Project Managers and report progressLine manage the antenna team, including mentoring, reviews, and developmentRequirementsDegree in Engineering (or equivalent)Strong RF, antenna, and microwave engineering backgroundExperience with EM simulation tools (e.g. CST, HFSS, FEKO)Experience with RF test equipment (VNA, spectrum analysers)Background in antenna design and RF circuit principlesExperience with antenna test ranges / anechoic chambersProven team leadership or line management experienceStrong communication and stakeholder skillsKey MeasuresTechnical and leadership growthDelivery of projects to cost and scheduleInnovation in design and developmentEffective team workload and resource management
