VolkerStevin are recruiting for a Senior Engineer, we have an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Senior Engineer to join our team on our long term framework in Helensburgh.

To be considered for this position you must be a UK National as Security Clearance is essential.

As Senior Engineer you will be responsible for all engineering duties and ensuring the engineers under their control complete their duties. Educate and mentor the engineering team. They will also produce RAMS, temporary works briefs, ITP’s, weekly progress and planning updates, NCR’s, TQs and Early Warnings. The Senior Engineer may also be required to manage low complexity or short duration projects (typically preconstruction site investigation/survey activities and enabling works).

All of the above (and below) is applicable for self-delivery and subcontracted works.

Responsibilities

  • Quality performance at site level regarding standards of both workmanship and documentation.
  • Support management of supply chain during construction: progress, co-ordination and feedback
  • Responsible for the production, review and monitoring of construction methodology documentation including RAMS and ITP's to ensuring compliance with the company’s quality management system and the employers requirements.
  • Responsible for production of as-built documentation from site.
  • Responsible for materials forecast, procurement and reconciliation.
  • Help collate and site data for inclusion in Daily Progress Reports.
  • Responsible for the adherence of project team to information management procedures and requirement

Quality

  • Undertake buildability reviews of the design information
  • Manage the production and implement the Inspection and Test Plan (ITPs) for your section of the works
  • Manage the Request For Information (RFIs)
  • Responsible for production of as-built documentation from site.
  • Keep accurate records- diaries, photographs, marked up drawings, etc and ensure engineering team do the same.
  • Ensure that For Construction drawings are available and checked at least two weeks prior to implementation.
  • Be responsible for the correct implementation of the quality management system, where it affects your daily activities.
  • Be aware of responsibilities from the Quality policies and support the implementation of Quality Ripple:
  • Understand the project quality management plan and the roles and responsibility detailed within it
  • Maintain and collate quality records
  • Raise, complete and close-out NCR’s, ensuring that registers and records are maintained and filed within Workspace
  • Support the overall project quality goals agreed in the SMP.
  • Record and share lessons learnt and raise the profile of the engineering team.
  • Champion best practice including new and advancing technology.
  • Assist in the management of the SMP:
  • Be aware of your own and the engineers’ responsibilities within the SMP.
  • Carry out spot checks personally to ensure that the project processes / systems are on track.

Health and Safety

  • Perform the role of existing services coordinator.
  • Be able to perform the role of Appointed Person for Lifting.
  • Perform the role of temporary works supervisor or coordinator.
  • Ensure you fully understand and apply the requirements of all HSEQS policies relevant to your site.
  • Ensure all required permits adhered to.
  • Responsible for production / review / monitoring of RAMS
  • Engage in Safety Ripple programme
  • Provide input to health & safety plan, risk assessments, method statements and task briefings.

About you

  • Management of safe systems of works and quality management.
  • Excellent IT knowledge including use of AUTOCAD and Microsoft suite.
  • Degree/HNC, or equivalent, in civil engineering desirable.
  • 3-5year previous
  • Good communication skills with client representatives, site team and operatives
  • Ability to challenge designs and resolve problems to conclusion.
  • Full Driving Licence.
