About the role

Warehouse Manager Location: Leicester Salary: £40,000 per annum Job Type: Full-time, Permanent The Opportunity We are currently recruiting for an experienced Warehouse Manager to join a well-established and growing business based in Leicester. This is a hands-on management position, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day warehouse operation and ensuring materials and finished goods are received, stored and dispatched safely, efficiently and accurately. A key requirement for this position is experience and awareness of hazardous chemicals and the restrictions surrounding their safe storage, handling and movement. This is an essential requirement for the role. You will lead a warehouse team and work closely with other areas of the business to maintain stock availability, improve processes and ensure consistently high operational standards. Key Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day warehouse operation. Lead, motivate and develop the warehouse team. Oversee goods-in, storage, picking, packing and dispatch. Maintain accurate stock records and conduct regular stock checks. Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies and operational issues. Work closely with production, purchasing, sales and logistics teams. Ensure goods are handled, stored and dispatched safely and correctly. Ensure hazardous chemicals and materials are handled, stored and moved in accordance with relevant safety requirements and company procedures. Ensure appropriate controls are in place for hazardous substances, including correct labelling, segregation and storage. Maintain awareness of chemical restrictions and safe handling requirements. Maintain high standards of housekeeping, health & safety and compliance. Monitor warehouse performance and identify areas for improvement. Improve warehouse processes, systems and working practices. Manage warehouse space and ensure efficient storage. Support continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure internal and customer delivery requirements are consistently met. About You The ideal candidate will have: Previous experience as a Warehouse Manager, Warehouse Supervisor or similar senior warehouse professional. Proven experience leading and managing a team. Strong knowledge of stock control and warehouse operations. Experience using an ERP or warehouse management system. Essential: Proven awareness and understanding of hazardous chemicals, chemical restrictions and the safe storage and handling of hazardous substances. Essential: Understanding of relevant chemical safety requirements, including COSHH and appropriate storage/segregation practices. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. A strong understanding of warehouse health & safety. Good communication skills and the ability to work across different departments. A practical and proactive approach to problem solving. The ability to manage priorities in a busy operational environment. Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment would be advantageous.
