About the role
We're recruiting a Field Service Engineer to support specialist bio-decontamination equipment used within pharmaceutical manufacturing, life sciences and healthcare environments across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Read on to find out what you will need to succeed in this position, including skills, qualifications, and experience.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced or developing engineer with a background in field service, engineering maintenance, calibration or electro-mechanical repairs to join a technically specialised team working with hydrogen peroxide vapour (HPV) bio-decontamination systems.
The role combines planned preventative maintenance, calibration, fault-finding, breakdown repairs, installations and commissioning. You'll receive structured technical training, progressing through the equipment range one unit at a time, with the support of experienced engineers through on-the-job training and buddying.
Working from home across a regional territory, you'll visit pharmaceutical customer sites throughout the Dublin to Belfast corridor. The position involves approximately 75% travel, including regular overnight stays during the working week. All travel is paid door to door.
What you'll be doing
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) using established procedures and checklists.
• Calibrate specialist equipment to the required standards.
• Diagnose and repair electro-mechanical, pneumatic and associated equipment faults.
• Install, test and commission new bio-decontamination systems.
• Support breakdown repairs and provide on-site technical assistance.
• Work in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), method statements and customer site procedures.
• Complete accurate service reports, calibration records and technical documentation.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with pharmaceutical customers.
• Manage company van stock, tools, test equipment and spare parts.
• Attend technical training and buddy sessions, including occasional training outside Ireland.
• Follow all relevant health, safety and quality requirements.
• Develop technical expertise across the equipment portfolio, with a clear opportunity to progress towards a supervisory position.
Equipment you'll work with
• Bio-decontamination systems
• Hydrogen peroxide vapour (HPV) generators
• Bioquell BQ50 HPV systems
• Bioquell Qube isolators
• L-4 mobile HPV decontamination units
• Pharmaceutical isolators and cleanroom systems
• Electro-mechanical control systems
What we're looking for
We're keen to speak with practical, hands-on engineers who enjoy structured maintenance work, technical troubleshooting and working directly with customers.
• Minimum HND in an engineering discipline.
• Experience in engineering maintenance, equipment repair or a related technical environment.
• Practical experience with planned preventative maintenance, calibration and checklist-driven servicing.
• Strong electro-mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Pneumatics or hydraulics experience would be highly desirable.
• Previous field service experience is preferred.
• Experience within pharmaceutical, life sciences, decontamination, cleanroom or medical equipment environments would be advantageous.
• An understanding of GMP and controlled working environments is beneficial.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to complete accurate technical documentation.
• Professional communication skills and confidence working with customers.
• Full, valid driving licence and valid passport.
• Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 25kg.
