Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services Location: Newmarket Salary: Competitive DOE Job Type: Full-Time / Permanent About the Role We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing Building Services consultancy based in Newmarket. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer with strong technical knowledge and a proven background in mechanical building services design. The role would suit someone located within a commutable distance of Newmarket who is happy to work from the office at least 3 days per week. You will be involved in the design and delivery of a variety of commercial, residential, education, and mixed-use projects from concept through to completion. Key Responsibilities * Produce mechanical building services designs including HVAC, heating, ventilation, and public health systems * Prepare detailed calculations, specifications, and technical reports * Coordinate designs with internal and external project teams * Attend client and design meetings * Support project delivery from feasibility through to construction stage * Ensure designs comply with current regulations and industry standards * Liaise with contractors, architects, and consultants throughout project delivery * Mentor and support junior engineers where required Requirements * Minimum 6–7 years’ experience within Mechanical Building Services Design * Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems design * Experience working within a consultancy or contractor design environment * Proficient with industry software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Hevacomp, or similar * Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE standards * Strong communication and coordination skills * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Full UK driving licence preferred What’s on Offer * Competitive salary package * Hybrid working arrangement * Long-term career progression opportunities * Supportive and collaborative working environment * Diverse project portfolio across multiple sectors
