Job Title: Technical Engineer - German Speaker (Electronics & V&V) Location: East Sussex (UK Head Office) with travel to Germany Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum Position Type: Full-time, Permanent Role Overview A global leader in passenger information systems for public transport is seeking a bilingual Technical Engineer to act as the key link between German clients and the UK engineering team. This hands-on role centres on client requirement gathering, systems integration, hardware testing, and protocol analysis. No software coding is required, but a strong technical understanding of electronics and software systems is essential. Key Responsibilities Customer Requirement Gathering: Engage directly with clients in Germany to understand technical needs and translate requirements to the UK development team. Protocol Sniffing & Data Analysis: Plug into systems to analyze, troubleshoot, and interpret incoming/outgoing data outputs across Ethernet and serial protocols. Testing & Device Approval: Lead Verification & Validation (V&V) activities, testing devices thoroughly and issuing final approval prior to customer dispatch. Technical Integration & Field Support: Assist with hardware/software integration, delivering on-site installations or technical evaluations in Germany as needed. Key Requirements Language Skills: Fluent in both German and English (written and spoken). Electronics & V&V Expertise: Solid foundation in electronics with hands-on experience in integration and V&V testing. Software Literacy: Clear appreciation and understanding of software concepts and protocol architectures (no programming required). Networking Protocols: Familiarity with Ethernet networking and serial communications (e.g., IBIS, RS232, RS485). Mobility: Full driving license and willingness to travel to Germany (Wuppertal office, OEMs, and customer sites).
