The TeamKPMG’s Tax & Legal practice is a dynamic and successful part of the firm, advising a diverse client base from PE-backed, owner-managed and family businesses through to UK listed and multinational groups across a wide range of sectors.Within this practice, the Treasury Tax team is a growing specialist group providing technical support on deals, financing transactions, international structuring and other complex tax advisory matters. We work closely with Corporate Tax client service teams to deliver high quality advice that is practical, commercially focused and technically robust.The Treasury Tax team offers the opportunity to lead in a complex and increasingly important area of tax, shaping market-facing propositions, developing people and helping grow a distinctive specialist capability within the wider Tax business.The RoleThis is an opportunity to join a growing specialist Treasury Tax team at an exciting stage in its development, working on complex financing, structuring and advisory matters across KPMG’s Corporate Tax practice. The role offers flexibility around location and working pattern, with the individual potentially based in any of KPMG’s UK offices, albeit regular visits to London or Leeds would be preferable. Occasional travel to client or other KPMG offices may also be required.This role will suit an experienced Senior Manager or Director who is ready to take a visible leadership role in a specialist, high-demand area of tax. Strong technical credibility, commercial judgement, market focus and a genuine commitment to developing others will be essential.As a Director in the team, you will:Play a senior role in shaping and delivering technically excellent, commercially grounded advice on a broad range of treasury tax matters. You will bring deep experience of the UK loan relationships and derivative contracts rules, together with a strong understanding of the legal, accounting and commercial aspects of treasury activity.You will help lead the continued growth of the Treasury Tax capability by creating and developing market opportunities, strengthening relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, and raising the profile of Treasury Tax across the Corporate Tax practiceKey Responsibilities In this role, you will advise clients and KPMG teams on complex and high-value corporate tax matters while helping to grow the team, develop people and create market opportunities. Your responsibilities will include:Providing robust technical advice on the UK’s loan relationships and derivative contracts regimes, including the Disregard Regulations, and related areas such as Corporate Interest Restriction, Anti-hybrids, Distributions and Withholding Tax.Providing specialist input on high-profile and complex projects, including M&A and deals work, debt restructuring and refinancing, audit engagements, tax authority enquiries and complex tax compliance and advisory matters.Applying deep tax, legal, accounting and commercial knowledge of treasury matters to help clients and KPMG teams navigate complex financing arrangements and develop practical, robust and commercially relevant solutions.Building and leading strong relationships with clients, Corporate Tax teams and other specialists across the UK, acting as a trusted senior adviser on technically challenging and commercially important matters.Creating and developing market opportunities for treasury tax services, including identifying client needs, shaping propositions and supporting business development activity across the wider Tax business.Leading the development of the Treasury Tax team by coaching and mentoring team members, delivering training and sharing technical insight across the practice.Playing an active leadership role within the team and the wider Tax business, promoting collaboration, technical excellence, commercial focus and KPMG’s values.Qualifications, Experience and SkillsACA, CA, CTA, ACCA or equivalent qualified, with significant corporate tax experience and a strong track record in treasury tax matters.Deep technical expertise in the UK’s loan relationships and derivative contracts regimes, including the Disregard Regulations, and related areas such as Corporate Interest Restriction, Anti-hybrids, Distributions and Withholding Tax is expected.Strong experience of the legal, accounting and commercial aspects of treasury activity, with the ability to apply that experience to complex financing arrangements, transactions and tax advisory matters.Excellent technical judgement, with the confidence to analyse complex legislation, case law and guidance, evaluate risk and provide clear, practical and authoritative advice.A strong market and client focus, with experience of identifying opportunities, developing propositions and building trusted relationships with clients, internal stakeholders and specialist teams.Proven leadership and project delivery skills, with the ability to lead complex workstreams, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality advice in a commercial environment.A collaborative leadership style and a strong commitment to developing others, supporting training and people development, and contributing to leadership across the wider Tax business.#LI-CO1
