Director of EngineeringSalary: Excellent packageTHE CLIENTOur client is a globally respected leader in lighting solutions supplying into a variety of markets. With a current turnover of around 30m in Europe, they are looking to grow to 45m+ over the next 3 years. A key component to this growth will include a strong strategic focus on expanding their footprint in continental Europe, as well as developing successful new product ranges for a range of industries in line with the company's strategy.Due to these growth plans, the company are looking to recruit an experience Engineering & Development Director who will play a key role in shaping and executing the product strategy, while having the chance to make a tangible impact on a respected global brand.THE ROLE – ENGINEERING & DEVELOPMENT DIRECTORThe Director of Engineering & Development is responsible for leading all engineering, product development, compliance, and technical innovation activities for lighting systems. This role provides strategic and hands-on leadership across electronic, mechanical and optical development, with a strong focus on mechanical design, electronics and PCBA development, and technical documentation compliant with industry regulations and standards.The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of robust, manufacturable, and cost-effective designs while supporting new product introduction, continuous improvement, and customer-specific development programs on time and within budget.SKILLS AND EXPERIENCECandidates will have exceptional engineering and product leadership skills and a successful track record of operating in a leadership position for a comparably sized business in a relevant industry.Candidates' experience will also include:Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related fieldMinimum 10 – 15 years of engineering experience within lighting or relevant sectors, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.Strong hands-on background in electronic design and PCBA development.Experience working in a regulated, high-volume manufacturing environment.In-depth and proven knowledge of LED lighting systems, associated electronics, and control circuitry.Manufacturing materials – primarily plastics and metals.Manufacturing processesPCBA documentation, release processes, and change control.EMC, thermal, and reliability design principles.Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.THE OPPORTUNITYThis is an exceptional opportunity to join a high-performance organisation/group with a clear vision, robust investment, and significant headroom for growth. xwzovoh You will work closely with the Managing Director, the Head of Project Management and the Supply-Chain team in shaping and executing the product strategy, while having the chance to make a tangible impact on a respected global brand.
