About the role
Project Associate - Real Estate Insurance Due Diligence
A leading international insurance broker is looking for a Project Associate to join its specialist real estate due diligence team in London. This is a growth hire into a niche, technical practice advising commercial real estate lenders on the insurance aspects of property financing transactions.
The team
The practice provides pre- and post-funding due diligence to commercial real estate loan originators and servicers. Working on behalf of lender clients, the team analyses the insurance position on real estate financing deals, reviews the insurance provisions in facility agreements, identifies risks and coverage gaps, and reports back clearly on compliance.
The role
Supporting the continued growth of the practice, you'll contribute to client delivery while building your own relationships across the market. Day to day you will:
- Support and develop relationships with real estate lenders and other stakeholders
- Review facility agreements, with a focus on the insurance provisions
- Liaise with lenders, lawyers and brokers to gather information and progress reviews
- Build working relationships with borrower brokers, explaining insurance requirements and helping identify solutions
- Review insurance policies, schedules, endorsements and wordings (with guidance and support)
- Identify shortfalls or issues and escalate to senior colleagues
- Support negotiations to close out identified gaps
- Review supporting documentation, structure charts, reinstatement cost assessments, rent rolls, to verify insurable interest and adequacy of sums insured
- Translate technical insurance concepts into clear, client friendly language
- Prepare accurate reports for lender clients and support final documentation and compliance records
About you
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive, enquiring mindset
- An interest in insurance, real estate or construction with prior technical knowledge
- Able to interpret contractual and technical information with support
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- A genuine team player who is keen to learn
- Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Working towards, or interested in pursuing, CII qualifications
What's on offer
- A rare specialism blending insurance, real estate and contract analysis, a skill set that is hard to replicate and highly valued
- Client-facing exposure from the outset, with a clear path to owning relationships
- Structured support and development, including backing for CII study
- A well-established, growing practice within a global business
